BUGIS STREET
A Graphic Novel

This graphic novel is a independent solo project by Rei Yukon (he/him), a Singaporean, Transgender artist. It documents the multitudes that make up the history of the old Bugis Street- aspects of it's culture and it's importance to our past and present, forgotten and skimmed over by National narratives.

Rei's work focuses on re-imagining the Queerness of Bugis, reclaiming it's history as a "red-light district" between the 50s to its demolition in the late 80s, and sharing the stories of the Queer Women and Beauty Queens who made the street shimmer and shine.
